Skin Food - eat right to feed your skin

Have you heard the overstated line that “you are what you eat?” It is true; our skin is a mirror of the internal body and vice-versa. So let’s look at a few interesting foods…

Blueberries – containing an extremely high concentration of antioxidants, they have been known to deactivate many carcinogens! Also, blueberries contain a compound called anthocyanosides, which work to help the body prevent heart disease and slow the effects of aging on the organs. And remember, the skin is an organ!

Chocolate – many things may come to mind with this food, but let’s talk about the altered state one feels after indulging in a fine piece of sinfully delicious chocolate. Loaded with a compound called phenylethylamine, the indulgent treat of choice for many is widely argued to actually elevate the sense of well-being.

Green Tea, fact or fiction? Based on my studies, fact! Polyphenols are the antioxidants that are found in green tea. Scientific studies have shown that polyphenols help prevent cancerous cells from multiplying. Beware, drinking your tea with milk binds the proteins and thus cancels the benefit!

Shrimp, sardines, yogurt and salmon all have this in common… CALCIUM! Yep, calcium! It strengthens your bones, which keeps your bones dense and posture proper. It also enables you to maintain an active exercise regimen, which will keep you with a gorgeous glowing skin!
Salmon is rich in Vitamin D, which helps the bones absorb calcium.

It is that exercise issue again! Rise and shine at 5AM and get your blood flowing! Not to mention it helps keep your hair and skin healthy.

Then we have Vitamin C which is found in berries, broccoli, citrus fruits and even tomatoes! It is the supervitamin! It boosts immunity and is essential for good skin.

And if you think all these foods are too expensive, there are supplements like Salmon Omega 3 Oil, Bio-C - 4 different and natural forms of vitamin C, Calcium Magnesium Complex and Daily Produce 24 - antioxidants from 24 fruits and vegetables, and the first in the world Green Tea Oil for your skin and hair.

UVA rays cause premature aging

UVA & UVB Rays and Aging

There is no arguing the fact that sunshine is one of the most important ingredients for the ultimate summer experience, but that “healthy glow” of summer is deceiving; further, it is decidedly unhealthy.

According to the American Academy of Dermatology, most sun exposure occurs before the age of 20, when the skin is more vulnerable. Sunburn is caused by Ultraviolet Radiation (UVA, UVB and UVC rays). Skin, whether light or dark, can and will burn, given enough sun exposure.

Though we often see no immediate damage or scarring to the skin, you may rest assured that there is a price to pay in the long run. Over exposure can cause most forms of skin cancer as well as many signs of skin aging.

According to leading authorities on UVA & UVB rays, people should stay out of the direct sun from 11 a.m and 3 p.m., when 70% of the harmful ultraviolet radiation occurs. Babies up to 6 months should be shielded from the sun entirely and should only be exposed to a physical and not chemical UVA/UVB block.

In order to protect our skin, we need to wear sunblock daily, on all exposed areas and avoid “baking” in the sun. Additionally, when we know we will be enjoying water sports, sunblock should be reapplied every 2 hours.

Sunblocks are not all created equal. The rank of a good sunscreen depends on the ingredients, not the number on the bottle. The three most effective ingredients are titanium dioxide, zinc oxide and parasol. Use a sunscreen that is “broad spectrum” – meaning it protects against both UVA and UVB rays, and at all cost, avoid PABA.

E International UVA UVB SPF 46 sunblock is not greasy, nor does it inhibit the application of make-up. ! Invest in one today and if it's good enough for your baby's skin, it's good enough for you!.

Understanding Vit A treatment and why Retinol Serum is best for you

Since these two products launched we have found it difficult to keep the product on the shelf and the percentages of return buyers is staggering. But many people still ask, what is in these amazing products that make my skin look and feel so good?

Retinol, which is an active ingredient in both of Dr. Berman’s products, is a derivative of Vitamin A. Retinol is enzymatically converted in the human skin to Retinoic Acid, yet another form or derivative of Vitamin A. Vitamin A is a family of fat-soluble vitamins known to be “one of the most important Vitamins” as reported by the National Institutes of Health in December of 2001.

In reference to the skin scientific studies show that Retinol is an ingredient that mitigates collagen degradation produced by UV light, stimulates cell division and epidermal growth. Reported based on a study by the Dermatology Times in July of 2000, the scientist ruled that Retinol will induce “improvement in the visible signs of aging when used on a daily basis.”

So what does all this science mean to you and your skin? Simple! Using Dr. Berman’s Retinol Serum by night and RxA3 cream by day, you can transform dry, scaly and uneven skin to evenly pigmented, moisturized and plump skin, thus minimizing wrinkles!

Using these products will allow you to reveal the natural beauty of the skin and allow inner beauty to shine forth.

Traditionally, Retinol based products have been irritating to the skin and highly unstable to light and oxygen. This means that many Retinol product were inactive, to say the least. Thanks to new science, two new efficacious products have been developed. RxA3 was developed for those with very sensitive skin and also for those with more sever damage that want to speed up their “rejuvenation” program.

RxA3 incorporates three forms of Vitamin A and helps to smooth, moisturize and calm skin, while working to minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Retinol Serum is based with one form of Vitamin A, Retinol, and is more active than RxA3. It works to exfoliate, lighten and smooth the skin. This product is a must for those looking to repair their skin.

Ideally, those with sensitive skin or those who are looking for a preventative and/or maintenance product should use RxA3 alone, at night. Others who can be and wish to be more aggressive with their daily regimen will find wonderful results by using RxA3 by day, under sunscreen and the Retinol Serum by night.

Retinol Serum and RxA3, as well as other products bearing the name of Dr. Andrew Berman, offer the user an alternative to the majority of skin products on the market today; ingredient rich products that produce results!

These wonderful products offer clients from around the world pure, natural and therapeutic preparations that focus on the interrelationship of natural ingredients and the skin, the largest organ of the body.

Be Skincare and Dr. Berman are committed to developing the highest quality medicinal plants and finding the newest natural elements on the planet, while maintaining a respect for the earth by monitoring the biodynamic methods of agriculture and extraction.

What about pimples around the chin area?

I've been asked many times about pimples appearing around the chin area, long after the teenage years!.

I see lots of ladies with this similar problem area, and my advice is this - wash your mouth and chin area after each meal, and make sure your partner washes his beard before kissing. hehehe.

Seriously now, the main reason pimples appear around the chin area is due to a toxic liver. So if you drink alcohol, or take lots of panadol or anti-boitics in your younger years. it's time to do a liver cleanse.

There are 2 supplements from USA that do a safe and effective job to cleanse your liver and you should consider it seriously.

SuperChlorophyll is chlorophyllin from Alfalfa and Red Clover Plus is a combination of 14 different herbs, to nourish and cleanse the liver.

I've written a blog on the 17 reasons you should drink Superchlorophyll - go read it here.

You can say goodbye to your pimples around your chin area permanently!

Bumps and pimples around your hairline?

Most people that consult me, have tiny bumps and pimples around their forehead, ear and chin areas.

If you experience this often, its time to change your hair dye, your shampoo, conditioner, hair spray, stylers and gels. The chemicals in these products you use, can irritate your skin and can cause redness & pimples.

Some ladies tell me their hair does not touch their face - yes day time correct. But when you sleep - is your hair tied up and in a shower cap?. Or will your hair cover your face and press against your pillow?

The price to pay for a flawless, young looking, problem free skin, is to use all natural hair products, with no mineral oils, preservatives, chemicals, colours and synthetic fragrances.

Be Hair - all plant based ingredients should be your choice and you can see the improvements to your face!

RESEARCH BRIEF

As we age, our skin thins and lines and wrinkles develop. Our bodies become slower to produce collagen, elastin and glycosaminoglycans. Age spots appear and skin becomes dull and lifeless as cell renewal slows and skin's ability to retain moisture is diminished.

Copper is one of the most important micronutrients for tissue repair and is involved in several key functions of the skin. It is an essential component of coetaneous enzyme functions, which makes it vital to wound repair processes.

Copper has been proven to stimulate dermal collagen in human studies. The use of copper has been demonstrated to produce significant results in enhancing skin elasticity. It also aids the body's natural defense mechanisms against oxidative damage through its activation of a naturally occurring antioxidant enzyme.

The presence of copper in living tissues has been known for more than 200 years. Early medicinal applications of copper typically involved treatment of painful joints and muscles using copper bracelets.

Scientific studies have clearly defined a role for copper in the regulation of growth, development and function of the human body. Less than 1 mg of copper is available in the typical American daily diet. Through a complicated series of exchanges, copper finds its way into the blood system, bound primarily to cerulplasmin. Copper is utilized by essentially every cell. It is copper's ability to preserve collagen and rehydrate the skin that makes it so valuable in the Mineral Mask.

Invest in Dr Berman's Mineral Mask today and enjoy softer, smoother, lighter skin.
